Bathroom Blinds
Looking for bathroom blinds? What do you need to consider? Bathrooms are slightly different from the other room and therefore need special consideration when putting blinds in. Most people just go with curtains and maybe some horizontal slat blinds. But what should you put it. Most bathrooms have showers in them, and even if you take cold showers the bathroom air can get quite moist, which is why very few bathrooms have wall paper. As the air can get when, the walls and anything else in the bathroom can get wet, and that means your blinds or curtains. Now with wood blinds, even if they are varnished they may still swell and stick shut if conditions are right. This is where horizontal slat blinds come in handy. However they too have their draw backs. Slat Blinds are great at blocking out direct sun light, but because they are made out of many different pieces, there can be quite a few gaps. This can be fixed by using curtains in addition to the blinds. However you must be careful with curtains. If your bathroom is normally well ventilated, gets a good amount of light and the window is not near the shower curtains will be fine. However if more that one of the above applies, the curtains may get moldy unless they are made out of plastic of some kind of waterproof fabric.
Roll down blinds are one of the better choices. Normally there wont be enough water in the room to rust the springs at the top or the axel and if the blinds in the bathroom are made out of wood, it is unlikely that they will swell enough for it to stop it from rolling up.
Vertical slat blinds can also be a good choice, but you will want to make sure that they wont get bumped around. Now the reason that they are better is because the slats are wider and cover the gaps between the individual slats better than horizontal slat blinds.
Curtains as Opposed to Bathroom Blinds
Curtains may be the best choice here so long as they are semi water resistant and you keep a close eye on them. This does not mean you can't have both, but curtains will do and they are probably one of the most cost effective choices.
