PVC blinds is just another choice.  They are not any particular style, although PVC is not applicable to all sorts of blinds.  PVC blinds offer better protection against the sun and block out more light and offer a sturdier longer lasting set of blinds.  PVC is great because it is light weight.  With many of the sturdier blinds, like wooden blinds, they can tend to be heavy and limited in for.  With PVC blinds you can get your blinds simply reinforced with the PVC or you can have the PVC as the base of the blinds and then put fabric over the PVC.  
One of the best things is that the materials used for these blinds is very cheap.  Especially when you consider how much more durable the blinds are then the alternatives.  PVC is somewhat flexible and is not brittle or prone to cracking unless it is exposed to extremely cold weather.  If you are worried about weight of reinforced blinds, then you can choice from various thicknesses.  

Popular PVC Blinds

One of the most popular uses of PVC blinds are hanging blinds.  These blinds are basically strips of PVC that are cut or molded into flaps that are then hung from above and can be turned to let in more light or moved to the sides.  These blinds are great for larger window and offer a clean, but very plain look.  Another use is the slat blinds.  This is much more common in smaller windows and they are often coated or covered in a material.  PVC blinds offer more protection than normal blinds so they may be what you are looking for.  If you aren't willing to go all the way with PVC you can simply get a  PVC backing for you blinds.
