Venetian blinds can be found in most homes covering windows from top to bottom and bottom to top. They are relatively cheap and pretty effective. If you are a night person you may want to get blinds with thicker slats to block out more sun light because the slats are normally thin and let some light through. For all the other need venetian blinds should work just fine.
